  5. This is great. I didn’t know about this either. I just ordered the Design Suite. I’m so psyched!!!

  6. Wait- is this for teachers too? It says for students and teachers, but it isn’t clear- does that mean that teachers get a discount also?

    • Hi Kari,

Yes, it is for teachers too!

      In the section above titled:
Other individual end user purchases — eligibility

there is a piece that speaks to this:
Full- or part-time faculty and staff employed by an accredited K–12 or higher education institution

So, faculty and other staff of accredited schools are eligible. That’s how I got my first personal copy of Photoshop. Later, when it comes time to upgrade, the Education version qualifies just as any other legitimate copy. Adobe is good about this.

Let me know if you have other questions.

      Cheers, Ken

  9. You are saying here it is only available to “higher education” but adobe’s website says k-12.

  10. What about Faculty teachers and staff on European Union countries? Can they use the software for commercial purposes? I honestly can’t accept that “Outside of North America” bullsh*t as we are, after all, professionals already. Or does that limitation have anything to do with some special agreements between Adobe and the US Govt. and their lack thereof with European govts.?

Regardless of Adobe not allowing teachers and staff on Europe to use their software for commercial purposes, I’d gladly use it for that anyway as, ethics-wise, this is some severe discrimination and a huge rip-off. I’d consult my lawyer before actually doing any of that, though.

Anyway, unlike what you’re saying here I can’t, for the life of me, find any clause on Adobe’s european education store that says that the “Student & Teacher” edition can’t be used at all for commercial use. Can you investigate on the matter and comment on it? Your advice would be much appreciated. Thank you all for your attention!

    • João,

      What country are you in?
I will pass you question along.

I can only be sure of the North American policy, and I can’t read some other country’s Adobe sites well enough to find what you might need.

      Cheers

      • Ken,

I’m in Portugal. Adobe doesn’t care enough for our country (or maybe doesn’t have the economic incentive to do so) to bother to have an actual portuguese site; upon choosing portuguese as the site language it redirects me automatically to the brazilian site in certain sections.

Also, there is a dedicated store for Portugal, in english, but as far as Education versions are concerned, I can only access them through a pan-european store. Fortunately enough, there is a contact page specifically for my country at http://www.adobe.com/pt/aboutadobe/contact.html , I may give ’em a call to try and find out more.

Thanks for your attention, anyway. If you manage to find something about Adobe’s policies on the matter, it’d still be interesting to share; I’ll do it myself, too.

        • João,

So far, all I found is that going through my link
          Adobe Store
then using the ‘United States (change)’ link at the top of that page will get you to the ‘Select a region and language’.
The Portugal/Portuguese main site is accessible from that screen.

From there I run into language difficulties, alas.

I couldn’t find an Portugal ‘educação’ area.
I too ended up at the Brazil site:
          adobe.com/br/education/solutions/students/

Your pan-european contact might be your best bet.

I will let you know if I get any answers.

          Good luck,
          Ciao.

  11. I purchase éducationnal adobe creative suite 4 design premium on 26/10/09. I want to know if I can purchase an upgrade of this product (educationnal) and how much of the upgrade.

    • dya,

      Hello.
I believe you just need to buy the upgrade for the Design Suite Premium.
There are no ‘educational’ upgrades, you get to upgrade with the regular upgrade in your language/country.

If you can’t find the correct upgrade, let me know what country and language you need, and I’ll try to find a link for you.

      Ciao,
      Ken

  12. Does anyone know if you qualify for the teacher addition if you are doing supply work through a teaching agency?

    Thanks

    • Hi Arlene,

From the Adobe Education Store info:

      • Faculty and staff — teachers and staff employed by an accredited primary or secondary school or public or private university or college1

In the U.S., such associations include: Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Northwest Association of Accredited Schools.^
